This is truth. You don't want to be on the losing side of the population wars. City of Heroes is one poignant example of that. The Europlayers split off to the EU servers in 2005 after playing with the US crew for a year, but 2 years later, it's dead on all but the British servers. Segregating US vs International doesn't make sense when you have a basically "shardless" setup like you have here currently.

This is the better structure to go, believe me. Whether or not they do it WELL is another thing; that's where beefing up the existing servers to handle all traffic points matter.

Having only one server is the perfect solution and makes the game much more attractive for me.

Performance is NOT attached to "too many people for one server". They might need to expand their cluster to improve it but please shut up about having more servers, that'd ruin the game

The real question is;

If the US and the Euros get divorced who gets the Aussies? Quite rightfully we want our own bedroom (server) rather than having to sleep with foreigners.

Lol, what are you talking about. In many games i need to go to EU servers because of the pingrate. As Example i will tell you when i try global agenda on US servers i got a pingrate above 300 on the Euro server i got 60-80. And for a action game this is a huge difference. When peeps want a death panelty for PvE and mostly for PvP then you need decent pingrates.
And don,t forget maintenance. Most of the time when US servers are down that is just the time we EUgamers are online.

If they think that marketing the game to non-trekkies is going to reduce the number of trekkies that buy the game, they are sorely mistaken and naive. One server is not enough to handle all the casual players as well as all the trek-nerds (like me).

As Delazure said, this is not a niche game, and its not based on a niche IP like Champions is.

Separating by region truly sucks. WoW started that crap and I hate it with a passion. I started playing online when Everquest came out in '99, and all my gaming buddies are in Europe, but I live in US.
Everquest has been running for 10 years and never has split regions, although they offer 1 or more European servers. Splitting games regionally keeps people apart. It's much more fun to play with people from all over the world. I am glad STO didn't split the regions, and I hope that will not change.

Present bugs and server issues will be taken care of soon enough. Btw, what makes you think the server issues wouldn't exist if the the game was split by regions?.......

Agreed, I honestly believe Cryptic have severely underestimated the playerbase for STO. This, in turn, will most likely turn away more potential customers & leave a barren wasteland that is Champions.

With Champions there is already a successful 'Super Hero' MMO in Cryptic's first MMO, City of Heroes/Villains (CoX).

What worries me is that this is just a 'sample' of the playerbase here in Head Start. A small fraction.

Splitting up our guild, who are US and Euro, would pretty much call it for us. Glad there's no split time zone servers.
