I vote for making STO F2P. An advertised "mmorpg" that is really just an mmo-action/adv game, about as rpg as sw battlefront 2.

No real exploration/ship interiors/full planets, constant downtime, a paid headstart that isn't....yes F2P.

My friends/ and guildmates from prior games are curious about STO--I've been warning them off for now. Give it six months. Since I did the pre-order I'll give it a month, , myself, though I'm not expecting miracles and will probably after that time leave the game to either grow and sophisticate or flounder and be abandoned.

This isn't nerd rage, threat, or anything else. Just a communication that says "here's my level of tolerance". I've tried to log into STO three times over the past weekend; all three times it was down. Open Beta is certainly continuing into head start! Yes, one could say "these things are expected with an MMO, MMO X was much worse at start" but why hold yourselves to the worst possible standards and expectations for a launch? I would expect more after having launched two other titles and having the cumulative experience of watching multiple other ones launch previously.

I have no doubt that the devs love Star Trek, but in this case ithe game also needs expertise, competence, and the ability to provide a stable platform for play.
Wow, a poster who can actually read, and understand English --

Thanks for understanding the intent of this post.

Eh true i suppose, but this is the "General Game Play" Feed back forum, thus if not here, then where? This is what this section of forums was intended for -

Unfortunatly Vakel, I don't think you'll be the only one to give it a month and then leave rather than paying to sub it.

I have faith that the game will improve over time, but my faith in Cryptic is virtually done and would take a miracle to see that faith restored.

I agree with OP as I'm sure many do - and as many disagree lol

The game "launches" in 2 days ... the OP and others are willing to give it time. My brother and I both had/have high hopes for STO - we're willing to give it a month too and see if Cryptic does better than they did with CO. Flub something like the Star Trek franchise ... man.

I find it interesting that all the "unexpected" downtimes always occur on the hour. Don't insult our intelligence please. How about an in-game notice? We got them in OB ...

There's no ... "MMO" as the OP puts it. Auto team is a neat function (kudos for that idea) but chat is clunky. I have yet to use the mail function. Trading needs work.

My pet peeves? The "game manual" sux. I've had to read the forums and other players posts to learn /basic/ things. Example - Memory Alpha ... broken? Working as intended? HOW does it work? Who knows ...
The power bar - why does it seem I can't put what I want where I want? Truly annoying ...

On a positive note? I love the combat system, the skills trees, itemization ... it's the other stuff that's not much fun. Missions are repetitive but that's the norm - at least there're different paths to follow

Oh - character creation. I had as much fun with that in CO as I did the game itself. All aliens in Star Trek aren't humanoid ... hint, hint.

This game - as with any other - has it's good and bad points. Make it "fun" and people will play. Make it "frustrating" and people won't.

I'm liking the game so far personally. The server problems are frustrating, the bugs are annoying but I still have fun when I'm on

I've played several of your games, and STO by far is the worse trash i've ever encountered.

1. I find myself spending more time in Character Creation then i do in the game... why? Because the Toon creation is the only thing done properly, even said it's also redundant, and not needed...

2. You draw people in with all this marketing, advertising, and amazing character creation, just to create an impulsive push to buy lifetime subs, or 1 year subs - I find this to be purely **** business practice, you lure us in, and get as much cash out of us as you can, then we realize the game is nothing but a linear rehashed model of your predecessor games, and whats worse, the first week of game play in STO, will be exactly the same as you 240th week of game play... The hell?

3. I've been here since the betas, i want to pull the plug then, but i ignorantly let it ride, hoping ti would improve...
- It hasn't, this is beyond crap, the server stability is ****, even the community website's stability is sub-par.
I know part-time modders who have more imagination, and better upstanding of gaming stability, and longevity then obviously your entire company.

4. My biggest regret is pre-ordering this, I've heard all the "Fan-Boy" Excuses to these issues, and they are not valid excuses :
- "Give it time, it needs to work out it's kinks" - NO, you should have done that BEFORE you launched it.

This game is a representation of your companies ability to produce, and sustain a franchised MMO - On all parts you have failed, You've upset the fan base of Star Trek, and true MMO Players, and Veterans are disgusted with this game, it does nothing to get your attention, the sheer amount of game play issues are staggering, the quests are repetitive, and rehashed, the PvP has no bearing on purpose.

There is nothing to this game, it's a shell with out a soul or purpose, Where is the MMO? I don't interact with anyone or anything - I'm so frustrated with this, i can't even articulate my frustrations..

Seems like the only effort put into STO, was the marketing, and Pre-Order "Goodies" used to lure us into your trap!

1 Month Cryptic, if i'm not enthralled, i'm out - not just from STO, but FROM any title you ever release again, i don't care what the Fan Boys say, this game is a complete joke -

Note to the moron: Launch isn't until Tuesday. If you actually thought buying a preorder/pre-release headstart program and actually thought it wouldn't have problems, you are indeed an obligatory moron.

When it finally came back up all the players discovered that the database had corrupted and all guilds, auctions, friends list etc were gone. All that was left was our characters, gear and level.

Then there was the minor bugs, loot lag, random disconnects, normal stuff that happens in MMO launches. All the critics say Blizzard did a good job with WOW and their launch.

So I think a server crash here or there isn't so bad when you consider the above launch of everybody's beloved WOW.
That's because most Wow Fanboys don't want to concieve that it even happened; they think a great company like Blizzard isn't capable of such problems.

Hate to break it to you people who think you are elitists and know everything, but there will always be problems with a new MMO game launching. I don't recall the name of the game, but it launched almost perfectly, yet below the perfectness the developers were hard at work dealing with various problems that had croppd up during the launch.

Almost all games have had some kind of instability issues at some point. Oh, and you think the stability issues are bad NOW? Wait until the release day for STO, trust me.... I can already tell the servers will be crashing a lot - but guess what - that's progress. As each crash helps the developers figure out where the underlying problems are and fix them and perhaps even prevent them from reoccuring again.

]Note to the Verbose ******, who thinks his superfluous aggression makes his points appear more valid :

I preoder for the "HEAD START", Not the "HEAD START BUT STILL BROKEN PHASE",

Btw, your ***** is still small, all that trolling didn't change it's size sorry.
