Hello, im just wondering if someone could reasure me or even inform me of what the situation is going to be on queing system.

Now i dont want to get alot of abuse from other member i just would liek to know :

I've paid for a lifetime subscription to STO and i love playign the game however i just tried to log on and i got a mesage sayign "The server is full and not accepting any more players currenlty"

Seeing this worried me ALOT seems as the game hasnt even bee released yet and the server is already full.

No i know im not paying monthly but 170 is alot of money and if i cant get into the server for which i and many others have paid to play on what is going ot be done about that?

This is smy first MMORPG so forgive me if i dont understand the concepts of how the server will work and so forth.

Will a bigger server for capicity be issued if this becomes a regular problem, i would be disapointed if every time i logged on i got that message especially when i payed that amount of monery to play.

Thanks for you answer in advance.

Well let's be frank here, no one wants to get flamed but people get flamed all the time anyway...

Now that that's out, Cryptic has consistently been underestimating the player base for this game, and have told us that they are working on upgrading server capacity. This happened to a lot of us during open beta, and it's not surprising it's happening again.

They are working on the problem, rest assured (I bought a lifetime sub too, so I'm not just placating you), but for now, the only solution is to just keep trying to log in. This was Cryptic's answer the first time around; just keep login spamming because you never know when someone will log off and you'll weasel your way into the server

They are aware of server issues. They're putting in new hardware and hopefully they'll be getting additional servers again. MMO server stability is always a tricky game of balancing load and availability against the cost of new servers and happy customers. Get to many servers up front and don't have the players to offset your costs and your company can end up in serious trouble. To few servers and customers get upset about crashes and load times and again, resulting in fewer customers and eventually the game burns out.

They're aware of the problem and are working to fix it. Heh...at this point they'd better be working day and night without breaks to fix it! I'm suspecting launch may be a little hectic, but in a week or two we'll probably not be having any of these problems. Hopefully.

I wonder if the East Coast snow storm might be helping with the problems; I've heard the server farm is on the East coast, and if they can't get new equipment or employees there....I know SE Virginia is closed down tight right now. Except for poor SOBs like myself who got called in to do doubles <grumble>...

I'm in total agreement. as I've been waiting to get on and play for 2 hours and it says I'm like 560 something of 900 people waiting. really... makes me wonder what the game at launch will be like ... or if its gonna be worth even trying to play... Don't get me wrong I love the game. Someone over there at Cryptic just really needs to get this issue solved

Not to mention the player load peters off pretty quickly after the first month or two of release. Just because you have 25,000 people trying to get in right now doesn't mean you'll KEEP that many two months down the road. Most of the time developers will accept having 5-10 minute queue times during the first month or so of release if it means they can avoid having their servers all running at 1/4 capacity three months down the road. Queuing is one of the few things Darkfall Online did RIGHT at their launch. Devs want to avoid the Age of Conan scenario, where they buy new servers in a panic to accommodate the launch crowds, only to have 1/2 the playerbase leave the moment the increased capacity goes online and have to contract.

I really hope they sort this soon becuase I would like to actually have a head start. Feels like whenever I log on im stuck waiting or the server ends up going down. And this is the first ever MMO that I have ever had to q to get in. I hope this is sorted soon.

The problem is that MMO populations are (usually) the highest they'll ever be at launch. Meaning if you buy enough servers to comfortably fit all the launch players, in 3-6 months those servers will be idle and will have been wasted money. So to be efficient, you try to get juuuust enough launch servers. Which is hard to do, so you throw in a queue to lighten the load.

It sounds lame and there will be (misguided) cries of 'oo if you had enough servers, you wouldn't lose players' but ... that's how it works. In a month it won't be an issue.

I'm envious, I'm currently 1122 of 1225 and been waiting 35mins so far.

update: 1121 of 1329 after 35mins ... dropped one place on waiting list ...woot!

wow had this and they'd add a new server to lighten up the load. cryptic we don't need a q system we need more servers who wants to pay to sit and wait to get on to play?
