I don't have a good comparison pic of them in-game right now to take a look. However, the Constitution is already more massive due to its secondary hull (the part with engineering). Therefore, it is already bigger.

As for the sabre appearance, I noticed that the Ship Listing page has a small picture of the sabre that is pretty close to correct (NONE of the ships are perfect replicas of what we saw in the shows, corners have been cut because it is an MMO). Perhaps it can be made to look like this with the correct parts? I might have to grab one and see.

As an aside, I think the problem stems from the lack of consistency in the Star Trek special effects department. They have always seemed to think that the viewer is too stupid to work out what ship is powerful and what isn't on their own or from dialogue. So they change the relative sizes of ships from episode to episode, and some times from shot to shot.

Ex Astris Scientia has some good methodology and concrete data on ship sizes. They also have some good articles discussing the size related shape shifting that occurs in the shows.

Check out their Starship Database and Starship Articles pages.

That is how it should be the Connie being larger, but there is no sizable difference in game. The saucer section is smaller than a Miranda, and the secondary hull just isn't scaled correctly.

That is what the tier 2 Escort looks like if you click "Saber" in the main options. It is not customized, they're all at the defaults for that model.

If you don't believe me, I can go buy one and post a screenshot in the ship customization screen, but I assure you that it is.

(EDIT: Upon checking, it actually is not. I stand corrected.)

Defaults for the Sabre, 3/4s view, because I ran out of room on the next post:

The Sabre, using default model and textures, in game screenshots:

So, it is close, but not quite a copy of the original.

Plus, I'm 20K poorer now. :p

I'll punch up some images tomorrow using the reference sizes so we can see what they should look like when compared from the top instead of just the side. That will give us all a better perspective on this.
