So I got very very lucky the other day and got two epically frign rare ships in 1 $10 purchase of Master Keys.

1.) Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Dreadnought Carrier
2.) Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier

Now I am at a bit of a dilemma, this is my new STO account it is pretty new (my last one was hacked when I went inactive for 6 months about 2 years ago). So needless to say I am pretty poor and to get a nice EC boost I will have to sell one of these shinny new ships.

So here I am stuck trying to decide what one might be better (PvE oriented game play). I am also not sure how to build either one, It looks like the JHHEC can rock DHC!!! That can be good right? The Xindi ship seems to be just a beam boat kind of ship, I have experience building some beasty escort ships so I am kind of lost when it comes to beam/torp boats.

I also like to do a crap ton of damage in STFs while not getting shredded in 2 shots like I do in my T'Varo.

All opinions are more than welcomed, expect for the opinion that I am a noob I know this already thanks. Any tips and tricks as well..

Thanks!

The JHEC is like a mix between a battlecruiser and an escort, only it comes with a free hangar! Good, solid boff layout to allow use of that uni slot for TAC if needed.

The Xindi looks good on paper as well, less of a battlecruiser and more of a cruiser with better turn rate. It allows use of the LtCDR slot as a sci, giving you grav well 1 should you desire. It could also be run as a CMDR for a lot more tac skills, or ENG for tanking. If you don't use it for ENG you might be a little soft, but it has a higher shield multiplier and a much higher hull rating to make up for this. It also has 2 hangars.

I think overall the boff setup for the JHEC might be a little better for a standalone ship. The Xindi has the potential to run grav wells, though, and has better hull, better shields, better hangar options, and can STILL dish out a lot of pain.

I'd say (looking at the stats on paper) the Xindi is better.

Both are excellent ships with the downfall of the narcolepsy being the crappy frigates...but you can swap that for a different hangar.

I prefer the layout/ handling of the jhec, myself. As well as the design.

I would sell them both and wait for delta rising....then either buy a lobi/lockbox ship if they were upgraded or buy the new hotness

Cheers

Both are solid ships. Decide based on if you enjoy playing with escorts or cruisers.

Sell em while people are still willing to buy em. Most likely useless in a couple months.

Personally I prefer the Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Dreadnought Carrier over the JHEC it handles and turns better than any other in game carrier atm more like a KDF battlecruiser in handling than a carrier. I also have the JHEC on an alt and it just feels lacking for some reason. Either way have fun with your choice.

PS... It is perfectly capable of running a DHC build in STFs and PVE content. I have one on a Tactical character and switch between DHC build and Full beam array as I want for that particular day. [the link includes a comparison chart of the different in-game carriers]

Trade them both in and get the Jem Hadar Dreadnought Carrier....

That ship rocks dual heavys, tac oriented seating, has Oozles of hull and shield, can fit 2 pets (use Elite skoprions or runabouts) and naturally looks totally awesome.

If at any point you get access to a jem hadar attack ship, you can also start using the jem hadar fighter pet frigate which are probably the best pet in the game.

I've fiddled with JHDC on tribble. The turn rating of 5 really hurts it. I wouldn't ever run DHCs on it because you'll never be pointing at the target with them. It's better than the Bortasqu, but turns just as badly.

So... JHDC seems a nice tank and the alure of those JHAS pets is strong, but the Xindi is probably far better to fly.
