I have this image of a picnic table full of food suddenly being surrounded by a tasmanian devil-esque whirlwind. Only when the whirlwind speeds off, instead of the table being empty save for a few scraps and bones, there's a pile of baby tribbles left behind.

Here's the stack limits for the 64% & 72% drop only food:

Aldebaran Whiskey = 60
Blood Wine = 70
Bolian Souffle = 40
Ferengi Jellied Gree-Worms =60
Ferengi Snail Steak = 60
Ferengi Tube Grubs = 60
Flaked Blood Fleas = 60
I'danian Spice Pudding = 30
Jimbalian Fudge = 30
Klingon Gagh = 60
Klingon Gladst = 60
Klingon Grapok Sauce = >42 (not quite done yet)
Klingon Octopus = 60
Klingon Racht = 60
Klingon Rokeg Blood Pie = 40
Livanian Beet = 30
Ratamba Stew = 40
Romulan Kali-Fal = 70
Trixian Bubble Juice = 30
Tulaberry = 40
Vorta Rippleberry =40
Vorta Q'lava = 40

Romulan Ale = 70
Tranya = 70
Cardassian Taspar Egg = 60
Jumbo Romulan Mollusk = 40
Tulaberry Wine = 50
Romulan Osol Twist = 60
Klingon Heart Of Targ = 60

And of course what started it all for me on this:
Quadrotritacale = 10

I did not buy all this stuff, someone at SB1 gave me the great idea of doing it on the test server so I didn't have to spend GNP of the entire federation to find this out. I'm at 22 copies of my food character and still going for that dang grapok sauce but need a break.

Now if only I could figure out the dev logic on these stack amounts I'd be fat, dumb & happy. (well I am 2 out of 3)

Thanks for doing this research. Test servers do come in handy for all sorts of things.

But the stack numbers you provided still leave me with the same confusion I had about this a few days ago. What reasonable purpose did the Devs have to bother making these different items have different stack amounts? The only good reason I could see for doing this is to try to give these items a sense of real world encumbrance. Basically it'd "make sense" for bigger items to take up more inventory slot room (and thus have smaller stack numbers) than smaller items.

The problem with that possibility is that most of these stack numbers don't have any relation whatsoever to reasonable encumbrance considerations. For example why can you stack 60 Aldebran Whiskeys together (which are presumably in separate bottles) but only store 30 I'danian Spice Puddings or Jimbalian Fudges in the same space? Are these Puddings and Fudges as big as watermelons or basketballs?

I'm not against the basic idea of different items in this game having different stack maximums in principle. But bothering to code up different values in the software is only worth the effort if you're trying to approximate real world sizes. I'm not sure what the Devs were trying to do here other than just having random stack sizes for randomness sake which is pretty silly all things considered.

I'll certainly be able to live with this whatever the reason for it. But a mystery just for mystery's sake was, at the very least, a waste of software development time. *shrugs*

ZINC + Feline Supplement 74 = SPARKES
ZINC + Haggis = SPARKES
ZINC + Earl Gray Tea = DOTSON
ZINC + Hot Chocolate = DOTSON
ZINC + Klingon Raktajino = DOTSON

Stack Limit Randomness is definitely something I'd ask about if I got the ear of a dev for a minute because like you said randomness for randomness sake is just odd.

Side note on prune juice--it's the 25th century--surely there's something better for constipation?

The old standbys are usually the best, just be glad they don't have Sauerkraut Juice as an item.

Could swear I saw something recently about having "it" beamed out of you on some show I saw but can't remember the name of. I lol.
