I've never tried snail juice before. What does it smell/taste like?
Well, from what I've seen from the ones on my hosta plants, they're kind of like stinky dirt. I won't taste them unless they were drowned in about 8 quarts of tequila first, however. The French might like their escargot, but it's a testament to the exquisite French culinary skill that they can take a bag of slime and turn it into something that's supposedly tasty.
I still firmly believe much of what people eat around the world these days came from one caveman betting another caveman to eat something and being too proud to admit it was totally gross to begin with.
I don't know, I kinda love escargot in garlic butter. Not the ones with the pastry caps on top but OMG I can go to town on a dish of escargot, they're kinda like big softer clams (hmmm Jumbo Romulan Mollusk?) and dipping bread into that garlic butter/snail juice is DIVINE.
So yeah i'd have to give it a shot (if it was warm).
I am NOT eating gagh or any of those other Klingon worm type foods, I draw the line there.
