Fully unfair. Being a science Vessel my job is not DPS, I support, emitters, jammers, heals, buffs. that's my job, that's what I do. Am I not to be rewarded for doing a decent job, Now when i go in I only buff cruisers, Not as a means to punish escorts but as a way to at least give them a fighting chance. If it weren't for the fact I was in a nice Fleet with a good trade system in place who know about this and support the only 2 science vessels in the fleet, I wouldn't be getting anything but what I can barely afford from the Exchange thanks to 999999/1000000 being battery drops in general game play.
Don't flood the economy but this at least needs balancing out.
I agree with the OP. I get in there and shoot my tail off and I get... a battery - nearly every time. I think I got a white torp once.
I really like the way Warhammer Online does their public quests. They calculate everything (in this case it should be the things listed in the OP), and then add a random roll to the process. Getting the higher scores gives you a good chance to win the top loot, but doesn't guarantee it. Goofing off and doing nothing gets you nothing (there is a minimum score to qualify for a roll).
This gives everyone a weighted random chance at top loot picks. It is, after all, a group effort.
Another thing it does is offer a choice of loot (based on class). If you don't like any of the loot, you can take money or crafting items (in this case, rare items you get from anomaly scans).
Adding some rewards that could be built up over multiple runs of the instance, that could then be traded to a vendor for loot would also be welcomed.
It would certainly be a lot more fun with an overhaul and more people would want to do it.
Thanks for reading.
Edit: Oh yeah, it also gives you a bonus if you've ran it multiple times and didn't get any loot. It's a pretty smooth system and it's fun.
This is an MMO. You are surrounded by other players. Make friends with one that has a high DPS ship and buff him in return for splitting the loot.
This is an MMO. You are surrounded by other players. Make friends with one that has a high DPS ship and buff him so he can win and either A. run of with the item never to be seen again or B.redo the whole thing and hope he wins one to give to you for the buffs you gave him (and hope he's honest and gives you the item he won and not one that he's already got and is going to give you because the loot was better).
While it's a good chance either way it depends on the person you decide to team with. but wait! High DPS ships are winning hands down anyway so there is no need to buff them! therein lies the problem.
The complaint is that high DPS=win loot, Escorts out DPS everything, escort wins loot with or without buffs.
The more damage you do the more points you get, support vessels don't do masses of damage so we get no points. there needs to be a system put in where support vessels get graded on buffs, de-buffs, heals, tanking etc. otherwise it's always going to be Escort wins.
which also means anyone with an escort becomes a gold mine while the rest of us have to rely on luck on in-mission drops. not cool.
My cruiser does quite well in the fleet actions, I certainly do feel sorry for the Science vessels however. Which is a real pity as i would love to see more science vessels flying around healing and buffing
