Ok, I am leaning toward the Escort Class career and here's my thoughts so far:

A) Captain Career..tactical...Just seems a natural, w/ Astrophysics and Techie concentrations

2 Tac officers:...1 w/ Hi Yield concentration. to maximize torps..the Other...what works best if I go 2 front weapon slots cannons?

1 Engineer: concentration in shield repair...

Science Officer: at 1st Tachyeon Beam...later skill?...whats best to maximize DPS...the ship will afterall, be a brawler...not an explorer

rear weapons slot, i like the idea of either a standard Dual Phaser bank w/ 250 arc..for broadsides they will fire dually w/180 degree arc front cannons...OR...360 turret to keep the pesky mines off my tail and provide small boost to front and broadside attacks

keep in mind, I will speck this ship for max maneuverability, so I am willing to pass on dual front phasers, with 250 degree arc....in return for the bigger punch w/ cannons..

Any other tips or tricks are accepted..

Assuming it gets fixed, and hopefully not nerfed to destruction during that. You might want Mask Energy signature instead of tachyon beam.

In fact, even if it does there's a fair few science skills you'd want over tachyon beam. The damage if you've not got aux to 100 is pretty dire. I'd look into science team, jam sensors. There's a few you'd probarbly prefer.

MES is fixed.... it's as it should always have been now..

i actually went engineer with the escort, to get the extra skills that's needed to survive an alpha strike...

speccing into cannons and torps in front, with turret and more turrets in back.. perhaps a mine layer at later time...

besides that, it looks the same as yours...

oh the science guy, i don't take tachyon, as i can easily melt their shields.. what hurts more, is if more ships are firing on you... so i take either jam sensors, to remove one shooting at you, or MES for just getting close before popping the cloak ability...

Your setup needs a bit of work. When fed vs fed happens lets dual your escort vs mine. Simply put, ill welcome you to the shredder. No don't ask for my setup or anything, I do not share that kind of information.

I went Tactical / Escorts on Khabok, who is now a LtCommander.

My ship has:

Dual Heavy Phaser Cannon Mk IV
Dual Heavy Phaser Cannon Mk IV
Photon Torpedo Launcher Mk IV
Phaser Turret Mk IV

For my officers, I have:

Tac: High Yield I (Took High Yield twice, because Spread is lame and there's no other good Escort skills)
Tac: High Yield I / Cannon: Rapid Fire I
Engi: Engineering Team I (to fix the ship if I take any hull damage)
Sci: Tractor Beam (to keep Klingons from battle-cloaking and to keep the enemies hull from turning away)

Basic tactics: Aproach at full speed , not full impulse, drop throttle to 1/4, blow all cooldowns and pop the first ship before the rest can even react. Then it's either keep it slow and turret them down, or if they approach to get behind you, pop Evasive and turn around when you're about 9k out and drop to 1/4 speed again.

Works well in PvP, works well in PvE. If you're taking damage, Evasive / Battery out of range and turn in for another pass.

Science Team trait for Science BOs is outstanding. It's better then Emergency Power to Shields. Highly encourage you to consider it.

Are you sure?

Tactical Team 1 is very nice having a constant Tactical Debuff Protection, Anti-Boarding Party, Adds Able Crew giving you extra repair rate, and +18 Energy Weapons, +18 Projectiles.

Perfect escort has to be 'The Lusty Argonian Mai-... hey you tricked me! there you go saying 'perfect escort' and you treat me like a fool! well.. well SUFFER MY VENGEANCE *throws bytes at OP*

An escort that doesn't specc into Threat generation or have threat gen abilities.

mate my escort sucks so im nabbing some of this, can u put duals in the back tho? and why not do some pvp and get the dual heavy plasma cannons, i get 2 of em now for the front

If your looking at the end game, as things are currently shields in t4+ either go down in 2 seconds or dont go down at all. Anyone recommending a turret in higher tiers is sorely misinformed, as 2 dual cannons with Cannon: rapid fire 3 can easily break a shield in a few seconds.
