One recommendation I'd make is if STO gets trail accounts do what Fallen Earth did, trial accounts can't use the Mial system, the Auction house or trade with other players. So there is no way to move any money/credits the person earned to another account with out buying a copy of the game. and if they do then are caught it's $50 more to the game company.

I would agree with this while it may seem a little harsh to those legit players wanting to try the game. Well its still a trial, gives them more encentive to join perhaps. But I think it would be a good idea and it in a way screws the sellers because like it was said they would be out 50 bucks

As for the punish the buyer one, be VERY careful. It is too easy to exploit it to harm someone you don't like and frame them.

That is why other MMO companies, although they threaten to, never really took action against the buyers.
no its not lol.
talk about scarping together an opinion to get involved ha ha

Nice way to advertise their sites for them.

Posting the website address was NOT necessary.

If someone wants to use this kind of cheating then nothing will stop them and if you do not want to use this "service" then it does not really matter whether you see the originator and their www site or not.

We want you to know that we take these actions seriously, and are working on ways to combat this movement. However, while we're working on these things, there are some things that you can do to help stop this now.

If you come across someone offering to sell you in-game currency for real life money, please report them in-game. You can do this by right clicking on their name in game and select the option to report them.

If someone sends you a PM you can do the same thing. In-game click the question mark (?), request GM Help then select behavior and add the players information for a GM to investigate and take action. Please include as much information as you can regarding the message you received.

Additionally, you can ignore these people both in-game and on the forums. In-game, simply right click on the players name and choose ignore. On the forums, go to the profile of the person who you wish to ignore and select the option to add that player to your ignore list. Your ignore list is the same both in-game, and on the forums, so if you do this in one location, you will not need to do so in the other.

We want you to know that we do take the buying and selling of in-game currency for real money very seriously. If we have proof that you have bought in-game currency, or are caught trying to sell in-game currency, we will ban your Star Trek Online Account. No one would like to see this happen, so please, don't buy in-game currency for real money, and if you see someone trying to sell in-game currency, please report them.

Thanks,

Stormshade
Can you filter the messages (chat, PM, forum) so for example if it comes to specific domain names then the message will not be delivered? It is much easier then finding the temp accounts and then removing all of them one by one..You can apply filters for domain and specific words applied together in a message like "xxx.com", "sell", "STOGOLD", "STO GOLD", "cheap", "visit", "http", "www", etc. I do not think they will change and register new and new domains on every day

They were at it in Beta.

Probably testing their bots, etc... but still..

I hope some sort of filter is coming soon. I got nearly a dozen in email just in the last 2 days.
