I hope it doesn't bother you that I am very happy being a lifetime subscriber. The game is great - especially for someone with my busy schedule. I can wait a few weeks for them to work out these issues.
Now if I was a emotional or dying of a deadly disease, I could see being unhappy. But fortunately I am not.
Ah I think I understand, its not an MMO, its a "just for the ultra casual MMOSPG"
Because if you play all day you cant have a life and are looked down upon, and the ones that are happy with how the game is working seem to only be the ones that only play it 1 or 2 hours a day. Also, these seem to be the people that start to QQ every time the fact that the game is ultra easy now is brought up.
I do have moments where i feel like i just waisted alot of money both on Life, AND all but 1 of the preorder packages. I was really hyped for this and so far it does feel like its very rushed and frustrating. Sorry devs but im being honest, you deserve as much.
Im hoping that if i hang in things will get better, i have no prior experience with cryptic so i cant say if this is just due to the tons of fans overloading the servers or if the devs just didnt know what they were doing.
But im hanging in there hoping things will get resolved.
Id like to suggest after all the bugs are fiixed, (fix the bugs before u give us more content please) That we get ships with actual rooms and the ability to decorate and store items in them, Similar to swg houses, iPpl had tons of fun just making their pads look cool and showing off their hard earned rare items.
CLothing, we need to have some outfits we can purchase. ppl want variety.
But getting back to topic, i do feel like things r being too rushed. The end of beta event was a nightmare and waste of time, we didnt get any reward for it, a little title or a costume woulda been nice.
The head start was way to short, and now the devs are scrambling because tomorrow the official release begins. I can almost guarantee a huge disappointing server crash.
Maybe I will feel differently have the bugs and constant server crashes, not getting exp for quests and the unplanned maint. Somehow I doubt it but who knows. I was hoping to pick up commander by the time I had to return to work on Saturday. Now I just hope I can pickup LCDR rank 2. Only have a little left to hit Rank 2 but the state of this game
I dont feel regret no. because the lifetime was because i bleive that after the beta and with a little luck this game will run fin and will be an investment at the end of the day. Though it IS a gamble it was one I am willing to wage.
But I am bitterly dissapointed. I really thought headstart was they way they described it. some people have gotten home from work and think serves have been down for an hour. Some peeps have no clue they have been down closer to 6 hhours last couple of days. And unlike the wondeful and informative post's we were receiving through beta..and the very warm and apologetic messages. What we are getting now is a little perplexing to me, the message today is contradicting itself and has no apologetic nature.though i know it's only a quick post.
No i feel like i was SURE cryptic had this in hand and thus my lifetime stuff was safe. Maybe they are just overworked but the last three days have shaken my faith a little. And I am generally patient.
I hope they pick themselves back up...being in close communication with us(for me i dont know about yu guys) makes all the difference. when i know they are leting me know all they can and that they are doig all they can I feel for them and understand nothing ellse can be done. When they seem distant thats when I notice not just me getting annoyed...but more other people than normal. They just need to get back intouch with us now.
It is just a headstart...but as a way to impress my girlfriend into becoming a a permanent customer by trading iwow in?? well i think I just lost because of the headstart that has so so much downtime.
Again I understand this is normal in many respects...but i think that should then be reflected in the marketing of these products....just look at any top site see how it's marketed. Again it's communication, Cryptic seem awesome when they are communicating properly wirth us i hope they start again.
Rgrets? no WAYYYYY to early to feel that way when the server is crashing so close to launch. it's crap in the now but hold small relevence to the future methinks...sorry for the long post. I will say I started off all happy...but considering a "game" is supposed to be light hearted fun. This headstart wasn't what many had in mind. But i still look forward to the future(maybe more so now to get passed this phase)
This game is not ready for launch, and we all knew that in Beta. We hoped, we prayed, and some of us sacrificed.... things.... in the vain hope that it would be. Our dedicated bug reports showed that it was far from even Beta ready.
Look, not even the site is finished. Go look at it, it still has only a couple links working for the ships. No good business, especially in entertainment, is caught dead with a half built site.... really, your hopes lead you astray with your buying the Life Time Membership.
The game might get better to the point you do not regret it, but by that time you might have moved onto other games.
Personally, I do not regret the purchase. Primarily because I fully expect them to stabilize the game at some point. Granted that point could be weeks down the line, but hey, that's what lifetime is for. I just hope that people come back after things have settled down and sign up, that way the subscription numbers will justify the game's continued development (and justify my lifetime purchase!).
Though for the record, it is possible to get a refund on the lifetime subscription. I initially bought it for Champions Online, but wasn't really happy after the launch day nerfs. I was able to call their customer support line and, with absolutely no hassle from the rep, cancelled my lifetime subscription. I'm sure you could do the same thing here if you're having second thoughts.
Do I regret the CO lifetime cancellation? Not really, but then, I didn't exactly have the brand connection that I have with Star Trek. Nor have I exactly felt the need to reactivate my account and try Champions out again. STO, on the otherhand, I'm in for the long run, good or bad.
I may complain a lot, but I don't regret being a lifer (yet). The Federation was not made in a day. I've been a trekker since '66 and have waited years for this game. To give up now would be . . . illogical.
