I'm just wondering what the population is looking like?

I know in CB and more so in OB everyone was all worked up about science vessels because they thought they tanked better than cruisers but without the horrid turning speed. It sounded like most people were going to go that route. But then everyone realized that escorts are the only ships that get loot in deepspace and fleet actions due to the badly written loot system.

I personally have seen mostly cruisers though which are widely considered the worst ship class.

Just wondering what the rest of you have experienced to get a general feel for the population balance.

I have notice a few of each.

The one I see most right now is the starting ship.

I enjoyed my cruiser a lot in beta too, i admit I didn't make it to T4 though which I hear is when they start hurting. It just surprised me to see so many cruisers in an MMO, most of the time you just see the one class that all the forums say is OP.

I'm thinking of going science this time since i went cruiser and escort in beta, but I would like to fly a class that isnt' flavor of the moment.

The best way to get a good idea of the mix is just jump into Laurentian fleet action.

60% Escorts
30% Cruisers
10% Science Vessels.

Which is fine by me because I just got through winning it 5 times in a row in my science vessel

My secret? Low DPS weapons, mediocre shields and hull.

Huge number of escorts, fair amount of cruisers, science vessels are the minority it seems (though I am a Nova-class myself currently)

that surprises me that science vessels are in the minority. I guess everyone who thought they were some uber tank realized that the bleed through on science ships make them pop pretty fast. and everyone who was so envious of target subsystems tried it and realized it shuts down your own weapons for an entire 30 seconds which is pretty much suicide.....

that split is pretty good though, about what it should be with lots of DPS, a decent amount of tanks and a few supporters. that bodes well for teaming.

I had an open beta exit survey. This was one of the questions. A lot of Constitutions and Sabers, a few Novas. A lot of Akira's on Tier 3.
