Ok, so firstly, sorry if this question has been asked 1000 times, but I had a look and can't find the answer.

I ordered a downloadable purchase from gamesplanet last week, played the headstart. I got my product key in an email this morning, FINALLY found the link to activate the game (the main page lol.. last place I looked).

Once I enter the key it takes me straight to a subscription page, it states '30 days free' but there is not an option to proceed without paying for a further subscription.

So I just left the page thinking maybe that was it activated.. but I still dont have my 500 c-store points.

So... do I need to subscribe an additional month before I get my points?

No, but you need to input your billing info anyway. Every MMO works this way. If you cancel during the first 30 days you will not be charged anything.

So...anyone, who's planning on using gamecards is screwed? We don't have those yet. And why should we, what with the first 30 days being free?

Did you do this yourself?

It looks suspiciously like if I enter my billing info I will be charged for at least one month, then after that if I cancel it won't charge a 2nd.

Every MMO works the same way, guys. You won't be charged if you cancel in the first 30 days. Gamecards are usually not available at MMO launches either.

So you haven't tried it?

Apologies, but this is only the second time I have played an MMO on launch, and the first one I played.. I was never forced to enter my payment details.]

So no, every mmo does not work this way.

I have a lifetime sub.

I've been involved in several MMO launches, too, and I can't recall one where I didn't have to enter billing info at launch. It's perfectly normal. If you don't want to enter it, though, then I guess you won't get to play.

Being charged is not the issue.

The issue is me not being able to redeem my uniform key, because that site won't let me proceed without entering a gametime card code.

They are banking on you to forget to cancel and continue playing so they can hit that card once your free peroid expires.

to be 100% clear, WoW DOES NOT require you to enter billing info ANYMORE. They did at launch and up to I believe a couple years ago. But yeah, outside of WoW, every game requires billing info. You can activate gametime cards on your account to avoid billing or you can cancel as soon as you start your subscription at which point you'll get the 30 days and won't be billed.
