I guess I thought I would be able to get a lifetime subscription at least up to the launch date. If that It then I'm not going to even bother to pick up my pre-order. GameStop can keep my 5 dollars. After the beta I wasn’t even sure if I was still going to play. Then the lifetime subscription idea rekindled my interest. Oh well. Good bye STO. Nice noin ya.

No offense, but if you had read the promotions page, it clearly stated that it would be available at that price till 11:59 p.m. FEB 1.

And, if you've read press releases elsewhere, you'll find that you can still buy lifetime AFTER Feb. 2 at the rate of $299.99 for lifetime. So you pay 50 more for waiting.

I purchased my Lifetime before Feb 2nd. Even then I thought it was little expensive. Champs Online only charged $199.00 for lifer. Now that they have launched they are raping you for another $50.00? $299.00 for a lifetime membership. Cryptic is just dangling the carrot out there and we're all chasing after it.

The pre launch date special has been up and known for weeks now and was clearly stated it would end before official launch. The post launch price is still available for those who wish a lifetime membership. I'm certainly not one who has been sympathetic to Cryptic for a lot of these birth pains, but in this instance everything has been up front and as stated. Specials mean just that, if you do not take advantage of them while they are offered as a special, then when it's over, it's over. No different than any other store.

My thoughts also.

I cannot have it forever, so I will not have it at all.

I will forward his post to his local PD in case a girlfriend or two goes missing.

I guess they'll price things at a level they feel the market will bear -

Star Trek is a major license which will be far more popular than CO and can attract a premium price tag from a wider buyer group than CO.

I'm probably a typical example of the draw of this license, I've been a gamer for 30 yrs but have never played an MMO before (and have no interest in playing another one either), I've been a Star Trek fan for longer than I've been a gamer. I pre-ordered and very nearly bought a lifetime off the back of the Open Beta but went for a 12 mth instead, the price wasn't really a big deal in either case as its either STO or no STO.

(some guy on ebay got a good price for a bunch of ST Micro Machines this week as well).

Heh. Well, while overall I've found the game fun so far, I think in the end I'd just end up losing money with the lifetime sub. Because unless something drastically changes, I don't think the game has 2+ years of sub time worth of longevity in it for me. It was a bit weird that the cheaper lifetime sub as well as the annual plan were available for such a short time. Almost feels like as if Cryptic thinks the game won't be going that long either, so let's milk it while we can... Nah, I'm just a pessimist, is all.
