# 1 Where are my 30 free days?
02-02-2010, 11:48 AM
I'm trying to activate my retail key now, but it's asking me to subscribe. I though I was supposed to have 30 free days with my preoder, am I wrong? I don't want to pay another $15 right now, I just paid $50 for the game it's self already--and supposedly 30 free days! What gives? Am I actually charged the $15 now, or am I just entering my billing information as a 'placeholder' to set up the subscription for later?
Please advise, I won't activate my key until this gets figured out and neither will my friend. At this moment we are very unhappy customers.

Your credit card doesn't get charged until after the 30 free days. Cancel the game before that and you don't pay anything other than the game itself. This is the standard for all MMOs.

Everyone MMO asks you to subscribe to get your 30days. Read the billing date for next bill cycle.

Relax. Every MMO asks for a form of payment up front. You wont be charged until after the 30 days are up but you have to sign up with a valid form of payment to create your account and pick a subscription plan for when the 30 days is up

have you people never played an online game before? Seriously, I havent seen these kind of questions since like 2000 when I signed onto Everquest

It's a placeholder, so that should you decide to continue playing, there'll be no interruption when the 30 days are up...you would, however have to proactively cancel before 30 days to avoid charges.

It's to put a payment option on file so there is no interruption in your gameplay when the free 30days runs out. It wont bill you til next month.

Not quite true, only about half of the games i've played have had it as a requirement.

So it's not billing me right away, just setting it up for the next billing cycle? That's a relief.
Thanks guys! I'll set up my account now then, they'd better not bill my Paypal...

You should check the details mentioned in your account about when next billing day is.
For some odd reason next billing day on my account says Feb 4th.
