If Champions Online is any indication, then Cryptic uses the <char name@username> format for unique identifier. Which means, yes in theory you could have the same name with the same ship. More likely one or the other though.

I could understand people getting upset from this.

Think of it this way: At least you get to have your name, because I guarentee you there were at least three others just like it in the headstart alone.

Or you could do something crazy like....be creative.

If you pick a common name it's your fault if you see ten of them flying/running around.

And stop naming your ship "Normandy" or at least go play a Mass Effect. I swear that's the most common ship name out there.

Two days ago, I saw another player not only with the same name as my ship, but the same Centaur design right down to the saucer, pylons, and warp nacelles. It was weird to say the least.

Ok, now I understand the forum name shown; good reason now to have it (though I still feel iffy tbh )

...but why the hell can't Cryptic make names UNIQUE!? That is the whole point of creating YOUR OWN NAME; if everyone is allowed to copy someone else's name, what's the point then? Might as well have a name given to you with no choice at all....

...and the ship names!? What's the point? Cryptic is killing Star Trek by allowing this...

Right, because the fact that there are tens of thousands of people in the real world with the same first name as you makes you somehow less unique.
