In general, there is really no "bad" energy type for PvP... AP is good, it has the built in CritD mod, so you'll want to focus on bringing uop your CritH to take full advantage of that (although don't sacrifice accuracy).

Accuracy is king in PvP.

So if I spend a bit of dilithium on fleet AP beams, it won't be a bad choice?
Edit: Will I see the dyson shield with it's rediculous AP resist a lot in PvP?

Well there are two shields that have some crazy resists... the Elite Fleet Shields and the Dyson... you'll run across the Elite Fleet versions more often

That being said, there is a case to make regarding teams that balance the energy types to make sure they have some from both Res sets from the fleet shields (although I believe the Res B is more often used).

So yes, there will be resists to AP damage, same with every energy type.

Edit: In regards to spending some Dil on AP Beams... couldn't hurt... but like I said earlier, ACC is king in PvP... so if you go the fleet route, look at the ADVANCED FLEET gear... they have an ACCx2 version... ultimately, you'd want to aquire Accx3 if you are going to get really serious about PvP.

I also dont want to lead you down the wrong path... there is no "perfect build" out there... a lot will have to do with teamwork, and coordination. As others eluded to, and I will reinforce, the weapons are only part of the equation. If you haven't done so, join the Organized PvP channel, and look into attending a bootcamp session.

Outside of dealing with Res A/B, the energy type and corresponding proc can be thought of as the sprinkles on the top of your ice cream sundae.

That is to say their overall effect on performance will be, relatively, minimal.

You will see a more noticeable improvement with ACCx3 vs. ACCx2.

Best energy type is the one that makes people cry OP.

So I would say elite disrupters with Nantes.

That or protonic polarised phased elachi disruptor chroniton weapons...

Elite Fleet Disruptors have best proc in the game. But as stated earlier procs dont matter much and what matters more are the weapon mods and what shield the opponent uses (usually pvp characters have a set of resa weapon and a set of resb shields and both shields and swap around depending on opponents loadout).

Also tetryon buffs the nukara t5 rep ability which makes it an option for vape builds

Tetryon seems flavour of the month.

Tetryon will always have low price on its side. But if you're going for fleet weapons and rep & holding consoles, that doesn't even matter.

Right now Phaser seems to be the odd one out, with very little in the way of set buffs and console synergies.

Spike damage - Antiproton or Elachi Disruptor

Sustained damage - Plasma or disruptor

Science magic/disable builds - Phaser

Dedicated healers - Elite Phaser

Drain builds - Polaron

Shield strippers - Tetryon

Polaron/Tetryon/Phaser also have the advantage of being the most commonly "undefended" against with Fleet shield users. Many people run ResB since they also use those toons vs Borg in ESTFs for the plasma resistance.

Against those players, youd want one of the "lesser" three types (at least in terms of market value and prevalence)

Everything is OP, plz nerf

Best is to mix more flavors of the same damage weapon type, to have multiple procs. If you are damage cruiser, have an elachi beam only that you use for BO. Have some nanites and polarized disruptors also. I'd advise you to get the fleet ones, but in pvp, against a target with 110 defense, you have about 66% hits, that with acc x3 weapons. Use the fleet ones if you have cannon escort, just turrets in the back, they fire a lot and they still proc quite a bit, missing few turret shots is not a huge deal.
