I am curious what everyone did to get through Tier 1 so fast, and how long it took them. Did you find it fun, or just grind through Patrol and Secure missions, knowing that the Good Stuff would be coming soon?

I will admit perhaps I am mistaken, but my experience in OB and with headstart has been a feeling of tedium. When I do a 45-minute-long "plot" mission with an emphasis on the horribly boring ground combat and only watch my experience bar move 2 or 3 notches, it feels like something is off.

I'm not sure what the OP is talking about, what this guy said is right. I'm about to hit Captain and not even playing an insane amount.

Commander 3 here and wish it was slower, I started on Friday though. I know people are eager to get to "end game" but I think a big part of this game is the journey.

I only found 1-10 somewhat boring because I'd run through it already twice in the last month with the betas. I remember the first time I really enjoyed it. So, you don't speak for everyone.

The real question is why did it take you 45minutes to do a ground mission. No mission in this game has taken me over 20 minutes. And I'm driving a science ship.

Not a ground mission, one of the combo space/ground/space again "Episodes". Can't remember the exact one, but it had to do with a Gorn burial ground, and you have to disable three shield generators in an area crawling with patrols. It wasn't difficult - just tedious, and the XP payout wasn't worth the time spent.

The problem is yes it take too long to get to tier 1 but it is a linear levelling experience so it's going to start flying by too quickly.

I got up to a galaxy class in open and closed beta, both times took me about 20 hours per rank /played.

So yes 20 hours to your first ship does seem to long but when it is only another 20 hours till the next ship and 20 hours for the one after that it is far too quick.

This didn't involve instance jumping in battlegrounds for hours on end, just doing patrols and episodes.

I wish there were more "starting" areas, as it were. Some variety would be nice but then.. with the limited character slots, it doesn't seem Cryptic had a lot of alts in mind.
