# 1 Incredible launch
02-02-2010, 09:20 PM
I admit that I logged on hours after it technically launched since that's when I got back home, but other than the billing service being funky for 10 minutes I was in and there was no lag.. no disconnects.. no crashes.

I rank this launch an A.
or a 9/10
or a 4.5/5
or etc

Surprising to say the least. I got home today and started up ye ol' PC and after puting my retail code in and starting up the launcher I said to myself. The server is gonna be down. And then when I did get in I said to myself "I give this 30 minutes til it dies" because after all it was US primetime.

And it was smooth. An occasional rubberbanding here and there but for the most part it was all good.

But as I said in another thread. This weekend will be the true test.

Cryptic,

I have been critical of the server and stability issues during OB and head start, but I have to say that I was EXTREMELY impressed by the launch today. I don't think I have seen one go off so well. Kudos and congratulations! Keep it up.

I still can't log in because the subscription page demands a form of payment. I don't have a credit card or paypal and don't trust those forms of payment.

It only says "Paid Subscription required to play". It says nothing about credit cards.

Maybe I mixed it up, on Steam it has on the 1st line of the page:

"Star Trek Online requires a valid credit card to play this game and additional, recurring subscription fees apply."

Figured that was on the box also.

There are bugs.... angry people...and it's still a bit rocky.... pre-order stuff was a bit hairy...Nothing unusual about any of that though...

They have admitted they need more throughput, and they are getting it online... Good to hear....

I'm not assigning it a letter grade, but I feel, even with the little irritations, they did good... I was scared after head-start...but this was a relatively painless day...

kudos and cookies for everyone....
